Shigeru Mizuki
and my favorite works of his

Shigeru Mizuki is one of my favorite mangakas and most certainly one of the most influential ones in the way I draw my own art.
During his life he worked on a lot of projects like "Gegege No Kitarou", "Akuma-Kun" and many others. I would like to tell you about some of them.

Starting off with Gegege No Kitarou, I liked this one a lot, especially when I was younger. I used to draw Kitarou A LOT; though nobody knew who that was..
Then when I first acquired tech knowledge, I started researching lost media and other artifacts about the manga and anime. I liked that a lot, it made me feel good. The main anime iterations were in 1968, 1971, 1985, 1996, 2007 and 2018, - Altough there were movies - and I only really watched some 1996 and 2018 episodes. Then I dug deep into the Akuma-Kun rabbit hole.

So, Akuma-Kun follows the story of a kid that kinda gets recruited to be the "Messiah", a king for the good demons that excorise the malicious ones. There were three TV series about the manga, one of which is a live-action; strangely enough, it's not the one by Netflix, nor is it modern: it was actually the first one, in black and white, - the picture you see above was colorized by me - and in 1966. Then one movie in 1986 that preceeded the anime series in 1989, and finally the one in 2023, that follows a different plot than the manga. Lost media about a rumored american translation in 1989, the 1966 episodes only being subbed for the first two, archiving everything one can and many other things are what makes me happy about researching obscure things, especially Akuma-Kun! Truly a beautiful experience.
